Integration & Transition Sr. Systems Engineer
Job Description:
The Integration & Transition (I&T) Sr. Systems Engineer will provide oversight and Systems Engineering/Element Development support for SGSS Integration & Transition and other element activities for the SN Ground Segment modernization, with a particular focus on requirements, architecture and operations concepts. He/She will develop strategies for system validation and verification in support of testing, integration and transition of the operational environment that minimizes impact to ongoing operations and emphasizes efficient operations. The Integration & Transition Sr. Systems Engineer responsibilities include planning, procedure development, test execution and reporting, along with oversight of all phases of the project from requirements development and allocation to operations. Summary of responsibilities to oversee:
The candidate will provide systems engineering support including developing operations concepts, requirements and system architectures. The candidate will also support requirements management and identify/perform specific analyses. These activities will be conducted in support of a NASA ground system with particular focus on data services management, signal processing, data processing, monitor and control and data delivery.
• Work closely with and support the NASA SGSS I&T Lead in oversight of contractor development of Systems Engineering and element products
• Plan for and participate in Systems Engineering reviews, i.e. SRR, PDR, CDR
• Maintain close communication with other element teams to foster synergy and share information
• Present technical information and findings at Technical Interchange Meetings, Working Group meetings, etc.
Required Skills:
Must have experience in the test and integration of space and ground systems. This experience should include requirements analysis and verification. Emphasis should be placed on test planning and execution in an operational or near-operational environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills and understanding of communications protocols is required. An active security clearance or the ability to gain a clearance is highly desirable. Education & Experience: Bachelors in related science or engineering discipline with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the test and integration of space flight/ground systems. Experience with the NASA Space Network is highly desired.

• Experience with NASA policies and procedures regarding program/project management lifecycles and systems engineering.
• Experience with database tools, requirements management and system architecture tools.
• Experience with the NASA communications networks
• RF communications system development experience
• Experience with testing methodologies and test planning activities
• Knowledge of OSI Communications Model
• Knowledge of space data handling standards, including CCSDS
• V&V experience
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or Engineering.
